In line with national guidance, NHS England & NHS Improvement are mobilising testing for health and social care staff

This page provides details of all testing sites available for community pharmacy teams across Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight & Portsmouth

Testing in this locality:

Frimley ICS - covering North East Hampshire & Farnham CCG area

Attached in the drop down list below is the Frimley ICS procedure for staff testing of key workers.

It has been confirmed that Community pharmacy staff are classified as Key Workers in the attached process document and so can access testing if they meet the criteria stated:

“There are clear criteria for swabbing individuals as follows:

  • The individual or household members symptomatic with COVID-19 symptoms (has a temperature and/or a new and persistent cough).
  • Individuals should be swabbed ideally between day 2 and 4 following initial symptoms. Swabbing results outside of those timeframes may be less accurate”

Portsmouth - covering Hampshire & Isle of Wight area

COVID-19 testing started in the Hampshire and the Isle of Wight area on Tuesday 21st April.

Attached in the drop down list below is the Portsmouth procedure for staff testing of key workers. CPSC received the attached documents from Julia Booth (NHS England - South East) and communication has also been organised by them to go directly to all pharmacies. Further updates will follow which will include a solution for the Isle of Wight.

Update 27th August

Covid-19 testing facility is moving

From Monday 24 August the Coronvirus (COVID-19) testing facility will be based at Newclose County Cricket Club and will open from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 2.30pm.

To help people access the cricket ground, the speed limit for part of Blackwater Road will be reduced from 40mph to 30mph.

Update 29th April

All Isle of Wight residents eligible for coronavirus tests are being urged to get tested while the mobile testing unit is on the Island.

If you are eligible for testing you are being urged to sign up online or turn up in person to the Medina Leisure Centre.

The site will be here until Friday 1st May

Who is eligible?

  • Carehome residents and staff – even if NOT displaying symptoms
  • Key workers and their households
  • Over-65s showing symptoms and their households
  • Frontline workers in health and social care, even if they are NOT displaying symptoms
  • All workers who would have to leave home in order to go to work

You can apply for a home testing kit or book for a test at one of the drive-through sites.


COVID-19 testing facility opens

A drive-through coronavirus (COVID-19) mobile testing facility is open on the Isle of Wight as part of the Government’s UK-wide drive to increase testing for thousands more NHS and other key workers.

Further details regarding the mobile testing unit visiting Medina Leisure Centre car park, on Fairlee Road, Newport, initially on Saturday (25 April) until Monday (27 April) were published on the following Isle of Wight Council website page:
