Pharmacy Student COVID-19 Deployment Survey - Now live

Written by admin on Friday 1st May 2020

Health Education England (HEE) have created this new tool which is intended for students who wish to be deployed to support the pharmacy workforce in England

HEE continue to work with their stakeholders to support pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and the wider student, trainee and apprenticeship community respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the NHS mobilises to support increasing numbers of patients suffering with symptoms of COVID-19, they are working closely with partners to support pharmacy workforce planning, education and training.

Further to the joint COVID-19 guidance issued on 9th April, to support the safe and effective deployment of pharmacy students within pharmacy settings, they are pleased to announce that the HEE Pharmacy Student COVID-19 Deployment Survey is now live.

This new tool is intended for students who wish to be deployed to support the pharmacy workforce in England.

Key points:

  • The HEE Pharmacy Student COVID-19 Deployment Survey is now LIVE and can be accessed on the Health Education England Pharmacy COVID-19 website. The direct link for the survey is available below:
  • This survey is for:
    • Students who wish to register their interest to be deployed IN ENGLAND in support of the pharmacy workforce during the COVID-19 emergency
    • Students who have already arranged a placement/deployment to register where they are placed. This will help inform a strategic approach to workforce support and allow Schools of Pharmacy to have a record of where students are placed, so that pastoral care can be extended/offered.
  • Health Education England has also provided the following Student Guidance document to help students with completion of the survey:
  • Once students have completed the HEE Pharmacy Student COVID-19 Deployment Survey, their details and preferences will be reviewed, and their contact information will be passed on to an employer that matches best with these. It is then up to the student to decide whether to accept the offer.

Students are reminded that they:

  • must carefully consider the risks to physical and mental health of working in a healthcare environment during the COVID-19 emergency
  • are strongly advised to make sure that any deployment does not risk completion of university assessments
  • must carefully check that they are happy with the terms of any placement offered before accepting, and there is no obligation to accept a place if they are not happy to do so.
