This winter Community Pharmacies will be able to take part in a trial of a new Community Pharmacy flu vaccination service for children aged 2–3 years.

This trial is to support GP surgery colleagues to increase uptake.

Following agreement between Community Pharmacy England and NHS England, the new Advanced service aims to improve vaccine uptake in this age group. Most eligible children will require the Live attenuated influenza vaccine nasal spray suspension (LAIV) nasal spray vaccine, which will be ordered and supplied to pharmacies from centrally supplied stock.

Pharmacies opting in will be paid £9.58 per vaccination, funded from outside the CPCF global sum.

The Community Pharmacy Service will start from 1st October and pharmacies will be able to show appointments on the National Booking System (NBS) if they have signed up to use:

The GP service will start on the 1st September.

Across our systems the population of eligible 2&3 year olds is:

  • Hampshire & isle of Wight ICB 36,000
  • Frimley ICB 18,000

Pharmacy owners will be able to sign up to provide the service via the MYS portal between 1st and 31st August 2025.
