Christmas and New Year Bank Holiday Opening

Looking for volunteers to open under an Enhanced Service agreement
The Southeast Pharmacy Commissioning Hub have reviewed the pharmaceutical provision over the Christmas & New Year Bank Holiday’s on behalf of all Integrated Care Boards (ICB)s across the Southeast Region.
They have identified the areas (listed below) where there is insufficient pharmaceutical provision on Christmas day and possibly also on Boxing Day and New Years Day and are looking to fill these gaps with pharmacies who volunteers to open under an Enhanced Service agreement.
The Enhanced Service agreement would be as follows:
1. To open for a three-hour period between 10:00-13:00 or 14:00-17:00, final time slot to be agreed between the pharmacy and the Southeast Pharmacy Commissioning Hub
2. Payment will be:
- Christmas Day: £400 per hour (£1200 for the total three-hour session)
- Boxing Day & New Years Day: £300 per hour (£900 for the total three-hour session)

Confirmation to pharmacies selected to open under an Enhanced Service agreement will be sent week commencing Monday 16th September 2024.
Where multiple pharmacies express an interest to open in one area the chosen pharmacy will be selected in turn.

The process for ensuring Pharmacy Provision on Bank Holiday is as follows:
- Ask all pharmacies to declare their intentions for opening on the relevant bank holidays. From the opening hours declarations, cover over on the Bank Holidays is reviewed.
- Where there are gaps in provision in specific locations, pharmacies in that area are contacted directly asking if they would like to express an interest to open under an Enhanced Service agreement.
- Where the gaps are not filled by pharmacies willing to provide services under a LES, Directions to open will be issued.
- For both the Enhanced Service agreements and Directions, pharmacies that opened on previous bank holidays are taken into account to ensure fairness
