Creon Shortages

The LPC are working with Hampshire & Isle of Wight ICB and local hospitals to put a process in place to help cope with long term out of stocks for critical drugs for which there is no alternative.

Creon Update:

• Creon 25,000 capsules is available and will be released at 3 intervals across each month – keep checking.
• Creon 10,000 capsules were released w/c 15th July and available from wholesalers from Wednesday 17th July; the next delivery is expected in August.
• Weekly allocations/ quotas have been implemented in community pharmacy (Creon 25,000 = 15 packs; Creon 10,000 = 5 packs; Creon Micro = 2 packs); pharmacies can obtain further stock where needed by contacting wholesaler directly.
• A Creon Patient Helpline will be implemented soon.
• There is a public facing page on SPS Tool: Prescribing and ordering available pancreatic enzyme replacement therapies (although the ICB working on some easier comms)
