Ulipristal Acetate & Levonorgestrel PGDs for use from 1.4.2024
Joint Hampshire County Council, Isle of Wight Council, Portsmouth City Council and Southampton City Council Patient Group Directions for the Supply of ulipristal acetate and levonorgestrel for emergency contraception within the locally commissioned services have been authorised.
These new Patient Group Directions should be used from 1st April 2024.
The PharmOutcomes service record template will be updated within the next 10 days to reflect any changes within these PGDs from the previous local area PGDs if applicable. Once this is complete you will need to re-enrol to use the revised templates.
The Emergency Contraception Service can be provided alongside the national Pharmacy Contraceptive Service (PCS), enabling you to provide emergency contraception and then initiation and ongoing supply of oral contraception.
You may also provide the initiation of oral contraception as a bridging method if the person presenting wishes to move to a Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive (LARC) method of contraception. Women wanting to access LARC can be signposted to their GP or the local Sexual Health Service Call 0300 300 2016 or visit the PHR to book an appointment
