Selection will still be determined by the local NHS team, based on local population need where contractors can meet requirements

NHS England has published the draft service specification for the 2022/23 Community Pharmacy National Enhanced Service COVID-19 vaccination programme (phase 5).

Publication of this document starts the countdown to the autumn booster vaccination programme on Thursday 1st September 2022. It also marks the start of the application process for Community Pharmacies who would like to be commissioned as a vaccination site for this coming vaccination phase.

Key Points:

  • The service will be supported by national Patient Group Directions and national protocols yet to be published;
  • The service is planned to start on Thursday 1st September 2022;
  • A service fee of £10.06 will be paid;
  • Pharmacies wishing to provide the service will need to complete an expression of interest;
  • Expressions of interest need to be submitted and the submission portal is now open;
  • Expressions of interest need to be received by 5pm on 19th July.

If you have previously submitted an Expression of Interest and have a copy of the automated response that contained your responses, then you may not need to complete the entire form again.

You will need to indicate that you wish to participate and submit some details about your location, but you can then refer to your previous submission and state the date that submission was made.

You should ensure that the previous submission is still correct and provides sufficient information for the Regional Team to make a decision on site suitability.
If you have any questions not answered by the Phase 5 documents, then please contact england.pccovidvaccine@nhs.net

The national team will be holding a webinar for Community Pharmacy contractors and General Practice on Monday, 4 July 6-7pm to share further detail about the phase 5 arrangements. You can register for the webinar via this link.
