Pharmacy Collect Service – Anonymous Collections

Written by AlisonFreemantle on Thursday 11th November 2021

Reminder of service changes from 4th October

As part of the changes, people are asked to register on www.gov.uk or via 119 for a 16 digit collect code to pick up test kits. However, ONE kit can still be given to a patient if they don’t have a code – the collection is recorded as anonymous.

The service spec says:

If the person collecting the test kits does not have a collect code, the pharmacy contractor must encourage them to register via gov.uk/get-collectcode or 119 to obtain a code before collection. The pharmacy contractor should explain that obtaining a collect code provides additional patient safety (particularly in the event of a product recall) and allows for a greater understanding of test use.

If the person collecting the tests does not wish to register, the pharmacy contractor should still provide them with the required test kits and record this as an anonymous collection.
