NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR)
The NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) is offering an exciting, careerenhancing fellowship for UK-registered pharmacists with an interest in commercial clinical research. This fellowship provides protected, ringfenced time to develop expertise in building pathways that support commercial research delivery and expanding commercial clinical trial activity in out-of-hospital settings, particularly community pharmacy and general practice. Up to five posts will be awarded nationally.
Post: Part-time Pharmacy Commercial Research Fellow (0.2 FTE – one day per week)
Duration: Fixed-term for up to 18 months (ending by 31st December 2027)
Salary: Academic clinical/research scale based on current salary (pro rata, capped at
NHS banding 8b, or equivalent £74,896)
Location: Hosted by one of the nine NIHR SPCR member departments (UK) Application Method: Online via GoodGrants
You will build strong national connections with community pharmacy organisations such as the Independent Pharmacies Association (IPA), National Pharmacy Association (NPA), and Company Chemists’ Association (CCA), and collaborate with:
- NIHR Research Delivery Network
- NIHR Commercial Research Delivery Centres
- Clinical Trials Units
- Integrated Care Systems (ICS/ICB partners)
- Primary Care Networks
- Industry sponsors
Fellows will join a supportive national cohort, access SPCR training resources, and gain valuable experience in commercial research delivery. The role includes travel between sites and attendance at cohort meetings.
