A new Community Pharmacy England briefing on the urgent supply of medicines and appliances strand of Pharmacy First has been published. The briefing provides detailed information on:
- The consultation with the patient
- Medicines liable to abuse
- Different outcomes of the consultation

Controlled Drugs
- Medicines such as dihydrocodeine and codeine containing products (including co codamol) are Schedule 5 CDs.
- Medicines such as benzodiazepines (apart from temazepam), zopiclone and zolpidem are Schedule 4 CDs.
- Schedule 2 and 3 CDs cannot be supplied under ANY circumstances
- Gabapentin and pregabalin are Schedule 3 CDs and therefore cannot be supplied under ANY circumstances
- Schedule 4 and 5 CDs including phenobarbitone or phenobarbital sodium for the treatment of epilepsy are limited to five days supply only.
