And support available for anyone affected by suicide

Amparo offers support for anyone affected by suicide in Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth areas.

Amparo can provide short-term or longer-term support, depending on individual need.

Support can be provided one-to-one, to family groups, groups of work colleagues – whatever is preferred and is most appropriate to the situation. Support is currently offered by telephone or video link, in person, ‘walk and talk’ or in community venues.

People can refer at any stage of bereavement or other agencies can make a referral e.g. GP, coroner, or police officer for example.

Amparo are running 40 minute briefings about the service for professionals across June. The 40 minute sessions, delivered via Teams by one of Amparo’s Team Leaders, have already drawn attendance from all across the country and have been popular with staff working in organisations ranging from the police, the NHS, social care and the voluntary and community sectors.

The sessions cover the role of Amparo and how people can refer someone for support. The Teams sessions allow Amparo to reach more people across the area when it’s not possible to attend face to face meetings. There are a maximum of 20 places on each session:
