The Southampton Medicines Advice Service team been working with Wessex AHSN to design a medicines safety website aimed at professionals in primary care such as doctors, pharmacists and nurses. They have now launched the site, as we mentioned last month in the following CPSC News article:
Features so far are:
- The site offers clinical e-learning about safety topics that can cause patients to be admitted to hospital such as sulfonylureas and hypoglycaemia, or anticholinergics and their side effects.
- There are also problem-solving pages that will help you answer common medicines problems such as managing shortages or drug interactions. Some of these pages also include e-learning. There’s a list of free online info sources about medicines too.
- Finally, we have an index to e-learning about medicines safety that is available to NHS professionals. It’s arranged by theme e.g. administration of medicines, diabetes and medicines. It is not yet complete, with a plan to add more material in the coming year.
CPSC suggest saving the following link to your favourites:
Please take a look at the website. If you have any suggestions for future topics that you would like then to consider, please contact their team.
Although the site is in its early stages, I hope you feel it is a practical and educational support to you.
