COVID-19: Understanding the impact on BAME communities

Written by admin on Friday 3rd July 2020

At the beginning of June, Public Health England published a rapid review into how different factors have affected COVID-19 risk and outcomes

The review work has confirmed that COVID-19 has replicated existing health inequalities and in some cases exacerbated them.

Supporting the rapid review, Professor Kevin Fenton and his team have gathered insight from more than 4,000 people who represent the views of BAME communities, to learn more about factors that may be influencing the impact of COVID-19.

PHE has published a summary of this work,  which includes recommendations based upon stakeholder’s requests for action for strategies addressing inequalities.

These insights will form the basis of the next steps being taken forward by the Equalities Minister, Kemi Badenoch.
