Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS)

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has updated the Pharmacy Quality Scheme as part of the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) for 2020/21. This involves payments being made to community pharmacy contractors meeting certain gateway and quality criteria

The Scheme:

CPSC strongly encourages contractors to read all of the NHS England guidance documents to ensure they are fully briefed on the Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, initial plans for this year's PQS were suspended to free pharmacies to fully focus on the essential provision of medicines during that time. In July a new PQS was developed for pharmacy contractors to partcipate in, which focusses on the very new circumstances and different environment that all community pharmacies are now working in due to the ongoing COVID-19 risk.

Updates:

Update July 2020: Part 1details published containing ESSENTIAL CRITERIA CHECKLIST

Update August 2020: Part 2 initial outline of requirements released

Update September 2020: Part 2 details and payment structure published
