NHS England are seeking views on the central procurement of flu vaccines
As part of the work to explore the potential benefits and risks of adopting a centralised adult flu vaccine procurement and supply, NHS England is seeking the views of community pharmacies on making potential changes to the current supply chain model.
If the approach is adopted, it would mean flu vaccines would be centrally purchased by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) for onward free-of-charge supply to pharmacies and GP practices to use in the NHS flu vaccination programme. This approach would mirror that used for all vaccines in the other NHS vaccination programmes.
Pharmacies are being invited to complete an online questionnaire which seeks to understand the current arrangements that pharmacies have in place with manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors, as well as administrative workload and wastage of vaccine.
The survey is open until Tuesday 17th December 2024.
