Hampshire & Isle of Wight ICB is reviewing its Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) contracts as existing agreements come up for renewal in 2028, creating an opportunity to look at how services work together and how people access care.
Integrated Urgent Care plays a critical role in flow across the system, reducing pressure on 999 and Emergency Departments. Services within Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) locally include:
- Clinical Assessment Services – this is the clinical team behind NHS 111
- Category 3 and 4 ambulance and Emergency Department (ED) revalidations – this is where a clinician reviews urgent (cat 3), less urgent (cat 4) ambulance calls, or a call that advises someone to go to ED, to double check that the patient needs the level of care being requested
- GP Out of Hours Services (face to face and home visiting)
- Home Visiting Night Nursing Services
On 11th May 2026, HIOW ICB launched two surveys, one public facing and one for healthcare professionals, to gather feedback on Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) services across Hampshire, Southampton, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. The review covers services in Portsmouth, Southampton, and Hampshire.
While Isle of Wight services are not up for renewal, feedback from island residents will help inform future service development.
