Opioid reduction prescriptions
Wessex AHSN have released a new patient resource to assist patients who are having a reduction in their opiate prescriptions.
The Medicine Safety Improvement Programme (MedSIP) at Wessex AHSN aims to reduce severe avoidable medication related harm by 50% by 2024 (World Health Organisation Third Global Patient Safety Challenge).
The programme has one primary objective to improve the care of people living with chronic pain by reducing harm from opioids.
The AHSN are working with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (ICS) to deliver a programme which improves the care required to assist people to ‘live well with pain’, the leaflet is part of this programme.
Be familiar with the leaflet as you may get questions from some of your patients who have reducing prescriptions.
