New Serious Shortage Protocols

Ramipril and Cefalexin
Serious Shortage Protocols (SSPs) have been issued this week for Ramipril 2.5mg tablets (SSP071) and Cefalexin 500mg tablets (SSP072).
- SSP071 will allow pharmacists to substitute Ramipril 2.5mg capsules instead of tablets.
- SSP072 will allow pharmacists to substitute Cefalexin 500mg capsules instead of tablets.
The SSPs came into effect on 6th August.
SSP071 is currently due to end on Friday 15 November 2024.
SSP072 is currently due to end on Friday 27 September 2024.
The SSPs can be viewed on the NHS Business Service Authority (BSA)’s dedicated SSP web page along with supporting endorsement guidance.
