Provision of Emergency Contraception during Xmas & New Year

If you are open make sure you have sufficient stock
Please ensure over Christmas that all Pharmacy staff know which local pharmacies can provide EHC and that the service is free for females of all ages including for those under 16.
ID and parental permission are not a requirement to provide EHC.
If you provide the pharmacy oral contraception service, this can be provided alongside those accessing EHC.
If providing ulipristal acetate, remember that POP contraceptives should not be taken in the following 5 days after use.
Under 18s: During an EHC consultation ask all under 18s if you can refer them and their details to the sexual health outreach team for a follow up contraception conversation if no regular contraception in place. Referral can only be with their consent.
The online referral within the EHC form must not be used for people over 18 or those wanting an emergency coil. Patients should either contact their GP or phone the sexual health service on 0300 300 2016.
