Stoptober campaign resources now available

Public Health England (PHE) have now launched this year's 'Stoptober'

This national campaign encourages the nation’s smokers to make a quit attempt for the month of October and beyond. This is based on the evidence that if a smoker can quit for 28 days, they are five times more likely to quit for good.

This Stoptober, smokers in England are being encouraged to put their lungs first, strengthen their immune system and breathe easier ahead of the flu season by joining more than 2 million smokers who have made a quit attempt since 2012 with the annual campaign.

PHE are taking a fresh new creative approach for Stoptober this year, positioning it as part of their new ‘Better Health’ brand and focusing on the positive impact that quitting smoking has on lung health. As with previous campaigns, they’ll begin with a ‘rally’ phase which aims to encourage smokers to prepare for quitting on 1st October, followed by a ‘support’ phase which runs throughout October to help them sustain their quit attempt.

Their adverts and resources prompt smokers to search ‘Stoptober’, which takes them to the following Better Health website page:

On there you'll find a range of information and support on quitting, including several free tools including the Stoptober App, SMS & email support and the local stop smoking service search facility.

PHE have created a suite of resources that can be downloaded now from the Campaign Resource Centre. This includes a poster in a range of formats, digital screens, social media assets, web banners and an email signature to help you amplify the campaign locally.
