A very useful brief guide advising healthcare professionals on the best language to use when communicating with people with diabetes has been published by NHS England.
It sets out the principles for good practice for interactions between healthcare professionals and people living with diabetes and provides prompts that help build confidence, enthusiasm and encourage improved self-care, whilst reducing anxiety, shame and the guilt often experienced when hearing negative messages.
